Three things to love in November

yoga_movemberNovember is the month known as Movember, where men grow a moustache to give men’s health more attention. Speaking of health, November is also the month in which many people catch a cold or the flu.  Next to that we spend a lot of time indoors. So let’s have a look at what we can do in this November to stay healthy and to get a new energy boost. Three things I love this November.

1. Shahdol festival @ honigfabriek

A beautiful festival, initiated by fellow yogis in Nijmegen, who organize a festival on November 22nd. This event aims at raising funds for children in India to receive schooling, nutrition, clothing etc. All day long there are different activities, such as yoga, massages, Indian dance, a lecture on Ayurveda and much more, ending with a huge Bollywood party. 2. Garlic soup to fight off a cold
garlic soupWhen I was in Nepal for a trek in the Himalayas, I ate garlic soup for the first time. The reason they serve it there is because the soup helps against altitude sickness. I guess it did, because I did not suffer from the altitude there. Even though The Netherlands are far from mountainous, I can definitely recommend this richly flavoured dish, for more than 1 reason:
  • It gives anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral protection
  • It strenghtens your immune system
  • It is packed with vitamins and minerals
  • And it tastes really good!

I used this recipe (don’t let the amount of cloves used in the recipe stop you from trying it ;))

3. Reading a good book

fireplaceDon’t you love that feeling of sitting in front of a warm fire, holding a steaming cup of tea and reading a good book?

An insipring book can really give you a powerful energy boost to try new things, to live a better life or to simply relax and enjoy the present moment.

Books I think of are these 75. Number one and two on this list are definitely in my top 10 as well!
